With the changes in the economy, I took a long hard look at my personal economy. Although my favorite part of the retail business is going to gift shows, I knew I should re-evaluate the benefits. So I examined my ways of finding new vendors, then I looked at my “best sellers” and sorted them by category. I was surprised at the results.

Sausalito Pottery’s Lorna Newlin came into the store one day with a few pieces of her high fire stoneware. She lost her lease and wanted “Out of Hand” to represent her. I loved her work, especially after she explained the process. It’s an ancient art form-GOYTAKU (Japanese Fish Printing). A sea creature replica is pressed into the raw clay. Then the platters are formed and bisque fired. Many layers of sheer under glaze are applied with a handmade crystal clear high fire glaze to complete. Her latest is an asparagus imprint and the attractive plate is the perfect size for serving my favorite vegetable.

That’s one point for the “Found Me” category.
